2. Engine oil check

  • Stop the remote control lawn mower engine and check the engine oil level in a horizontal position.

  • Unscrew the engine oil dipstick and wipe it clean.

  • Insert the dipstick into the oil filler neck (do not screw it in), take it out and check the oil level.

  • Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. The oil level is normal within the 1/2 mark of the dipstick grid.

Note: Before using the engine, add lubricating oil to the normal oil level according to the engine instructions. Check every 4 hours. If the oil level is lower than the normal state when using the engine, it will cause serious damage to the engine!

3. Engine oil change

  • Start the remote control mower engine and heat the oil slightly before draining it. This will ensure that it is drained quickly and thoroughly (for engines with oil filters, replace the oil filter at the same time).

  • Unscrew the oil filler cap and drain plug to drain the lubricating oil.

  • Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it.

  • Re-add the recommended lubricating oil and check the oil level.

  • Tighten the oil filler cap to complete the replacement.

4. Air filter cleaning

  • Press the latch on the air filter cover or remove the cover nut to open the air filter cover

  • Check the filter to ensure it is clean and in good condition.

  • Remove the wing nut and air filter cover, and take out the filter element.

  • Blow the dust off the filter element with compressed air. Never try to brush off dirt. A brush will force dirt into the fibers.

  • Reinstall the air filter and air filter housing.

Note: Too much dust or moisture in the air filter element will prevent air from entering the carburetor, causing the engine to smoke and damage the engine. The air filter should be maintained regularly. If the lawn mower engine is running in a very dusty area, it must be cleaned every 2 hours.

5. Spark Plug Cleaning

  • Replace the spark plug with a spark plug socket wrench.

  • Visually inspect the spark plug, and replace it if it is obviously worn or the insulator is cracked or damaged.

  • Use a feeler gauge to measure the spark gap. If adjustment is needed, turn the electrode. The correct gap should be 0.70-0.80 mm.

  • Check that the spark plug washer is in good condition, and screw it in by hand first to prevent the screw from being misaligned.

  • After the spark plug is screwed to the bottom, tighten it with a special socket wrench to compress the washer.

Note: When installing a new spark plug, tighten it an additional 1/2 turn after compressing the washer. When reinstalling a used spark plug, tighten it an additional 1/8-1/4 turn after compressing the washer. If the engine has just been running and the muffler is hot, wait until it cools down before operating.

6. Carburetor Idle Adjustment

  • Start the remote control lawn mower engine and let it warm up to normal temperature.

  • While the engine is idling, adjust the throttle stop screw to obtain the standard idle speed, which is: 1500+150 rpm/min.
